Monocrystalline Alumina
Monocrystalline Alumina
Monocrystalline Alumina, also known as Single Crystal Aluminum Oxide, is produced through a specialized controlled crystal growth process that forms uniform, strong, and sharp-edged abrasive grains without the need for mechanical crushing. These grains maintain their cutting sharpness during use, ensuring consistent performance and reduced heat build-up during grinding operations.
This material is recognized for its very high hardness (Vickers 3000–3400 Hv), stable structure, and superior grinding efficiency. Because the grains fracture at the micro-level, new sharp cutting edges continuously regenerate, improving the grinding speed and extending abrasive life.
Key Features:
High purity (Al₂O₃ ≥ 99%) ensuring stability and performance
Extremely sharp multi-faceted cutting edges
Low heat generation – reduces burning and workpiece damage
High toughness and long abrasive service life
Ideal for precision and high-pressure grinding
Applications:
Grinding wheels and mounted points
Precision and surface grinding of tool steel and stainless steel
High hardness alloy grinding and profile grinding
Polishing operations requiring fine and consistent finish
Available Grit Sizes:
Bonded Abrasives: F12 to F220
Coated Abrasives: P16 to P220
Micropowder: #240 to #3000
Custom sizes available upon request
Monocrystalline Alumina is widely preferred for high-performance grinding tools where accuracy, cooler cutting, and consistent finish are critical.
