Anthracite Coal
Anthracite Coal
Anthracite, often called hard coal, is the highest grade of coal due to its high fixed carbon content (80–90%), low volatile matter, and minimal impurities such as ash and sulfur. It has a high calorific value, burns cleaner than other types of coal, and produces a short blue flame with little smoke. Because of these properties, anthracite is highly valued in industries for metallurgical applications, ferroalloy production, sintering, and carbon additives in steelmaking. It is also used in power generation, residential heating, and water filtration. Its dense structure and slow-burning characteristics make it more efficient and environmentally friendly compared to lower-grade coals. Globally, anthracite is considered a premium energy source and raw material, often commanding higher demand in specialized industrial markets.
